There is very little scientific research done into Blue lotus essential oil, mainly because many of the exciting constituents from the Blue Lotus do not pass through distillation. So, while the vibrations and the beautiful scent remain in blue lotus essential oil, it is not the magical oil of the past. That was a different blue lotus oil; a maceration concocted under tight celestial conditions; one of the most important ingredients in a number of highly secret recipes kept hidden by the priests. 

We examine the role of blue lotus oil as a sacred unguent used in funerary rites, for animating the statues of gods in the temples. How it was used as sympathetic magic to ensure crops grew in the silt left behind after the Nile had flooded, and finally how Blue Lotus oil was used to initiate the high priest of the sun.
